Archive picture shows : Lynn 14yrs in 1971

The latest instalment of the celebrated documentary series which has followed a group of British children every seven years since 1963. In this episode we catch up with Bruce, the boarding school boy who was filmed, aged 7, missing his daddy. Growing up he longed to be a missionary in Africa but chose a teaching career in the UK instead. As retirement looms, he reflects on his life and work. We pick up with Jackie who, at 56, was fighting cuts to her disability benefits as well as overcoming a series of family tragedies including the death of her ex-husband. Has her life turned a corner? We end with Lynn who, aged 7, was filmed alongside Jackie talking about how she wanted to work in Woolworths but she ended up as a childrenÕs librarian. WeÕve previously seen her battling a life-threatening brain condition and in the last series she had lost the job sheÕd dutifully held for 30 years. In an emotional conclusion to the programme, LynnÕs story is brought up to date.
